New Job

i work at a video store now and knew half of the staff personally before ever being employed.
ive only worked a couple of days and it seems ok so far.
still a little nervous though.
im used to customer service...but not face to face.
i used to work at a call center and not have to see the frustration and anger up front when you tell a customer they owe $100 in late fees lol...now i do.
other than that i should be fine.

finally feel ok now that i have a job.
it had been two months since my last pay check, which i used to pay my october and november bills...if i hadnt payed those bills when i did id definitely be late on some payments.
so i went broke early, have been dipping into savings and now have cash flow...not much..but well needed.

just kinda taking it day by day still with a bunch of other things though...like the blog.
i'll post soon.
hoep everyone is well.
check the archives, the links, or my profile if you have any questions about any of the music on the page

Mr. Scruff - Get A Move On (Video)

i had been looking for this funny video for years now.
not constantly, but every time id here that saxophone part id be like man WTF i don't know who the artist is, all i could do was hum the tune and then go crazy not knowing who it was and then forget about it until it bugged me again. so i found the original tune, made in like the 50's, obviously this is just a sample used over and over again and i loved it back when i heard it...i don't even know how long ago. have a listen. hope you like it.
thank you pineapple express for reminding me of this song :)

Fun Fun Fun Fest?

sooooo.....im planning on going to Fun Fun Fun Fest this year. last year was great. this year has good line up as well and im planning on buying my tickets soon, but since i live 6 hours from austin id loike to havea a set ride over there. due to most of my buddies being in school, im not exactly too sure how imma get up there becasue my lil car wont hack it. also my job doestn seem to sure that there gonna keep me, its my fault, but man....if i start a new job, its a new process to get days off and switch schedules or whatever. my current job has to hwere i can set up in advance the day i want if its available at the beginning of the month so i always do.... also want to buy the pip (pretty important person) passes but dont know if my friends will get or want them. and obviously money would bea factor of that. but i would hate to buy the pip passes and have the better viewing of the concert adn know there out there god knows where. ugh. i need to figure this out :/

White Zebra - Empty Your Pockets/Give Us Your Souls

Photobucket

Empty Your Pockets/Give Us Your Souls

This is another full album download to help this local band get heard a little more outside of my part of Texas. Very energetic, they are influenced by everything and you'll tell when you hear the songs off of their first full length. They had this album free for download from last.fm a while back and you can purchase it form them at shows or message them on their myspace for arrangements if you wish to have a cd copy. Ive seen them live over the past couple years and have seen them change into this amazing band. Have a listen to their tunes first at their myspace and then come back and pick it up.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

So i was taking a break from studying and found this....

I was planning to go the ACL Festival to see The Beastie Boys, The Walkmen, and Dr. Dog, but if you saw the video you can see the Beastie Boys wont make it for obvious reasons. The Walkmen and Dr. Dog play at the exact same time. Fuck that. I want to enjoy both of their sets fully and not have to hurry form one stage to another just to make sure i see part of a set. The only other people i would consider seeing are Coheed and Cambria, John Legend, and Lily Allen, only because i have heard more of their music than any one else im showing is scheduled to play that day. Sorry if those choices sound bad to some of you, its just what ive gotten around to in the past, gimme a break.
Saturday is sold out and sunday doesnt appeal to much to me either. I would like to see Pearl Jam but i not gonna pay $85 just to see them. Maybe i'll go to Fun Fun Fun Fest again.
Back to studying for about another half hour or so for my Human Disease/Pathology class tomorrow.
Goodnight/good morning everyone.

Hope all goes well Adam Yauch

Today

gonna see See You Next Tuesday and Arsonists Get All The Girls Again
i plan on getting some more pics

Cursive - From The Hips

ive known of cursive for a few years now but have never listened to them.
so i downloaded everything i could find.
ive only heard "Happy Hollow" and a couple songs off of "Mama, Im Swollen" and im liking it a lot.
this is one of the songs off of "Mama, Im Swollen.

ive been feeling pretty down lately.
a lot of the time im too busy to notice and just kinda go with things, but when i have that free time i realize a lot of things and this song just makes me "feel" haha.
its one of those feelings where things will get better but before you do its gonna be hell.
the way it starts and then builds into after the singer screams "RIGHT!?" i think its a great song.
i dont know, its just one of those songs that no matter what it says or whether it relates to you or not it just kinda....lifts you up i guess.

does anybody else remember where this cat poster is from?
come on...im sure some of you out there know. haha

Tokyo Poice Club - Cine El Rey McAllen TX 03-12-2009

The show started a little late. Doors were supposed to have opened at 6:30, we waited until 7:10 to get inside. Didn't help much with the cold front we had come in the day before. Anyway, finally got inside, went straight to the merch table and bought a shirt and the "Elephant Shell" LP, noticed there was another band on he bill that i didn't see on the initial flyer called Ruby Coast. I didn't see the new flyer until after the show. They went after one of the local bands called Big League. After Ruby Coast was Ra Ra Riot, whom i had heard of but never heard their music before. Then came Tokyo Police Club! They practically played every song ever made by them, since they don't have too many songs released yet obviously, with two EP's and one LP. So every song was a sing along. People dancing and cheering the whole time, it even got a little rowdy, which was kind of weird. There were some drunks running around starting moshes during some of the more upbeat songs they played and even crowd surfing. I got hit in the head by a crowd surfer and was being pushed forward towards the people directly against the barrier in front of us for some time as well towards the end of the concert. The played all the songs off of the albums pretty much how anyone would remember hearing their recordings except for "The Harrowing Adventures of" which singer David Monks opened up the song with an acoustic guitar and then right when the song picks up he runs to the guitar tech to go get his electric and continue to finish the song. And the band started a slow instrumental opening for "Listen To The Math", one of my favorite songs. It was amazing the way they arranged the song live. They ended the concert and then left the stage and the crowd cheered for an encore for a couple of minutes. They came back out and played one of their songs and then had Ruby Coast and Ra Ra Riot come on the stage to sing a cover of The Clash's song "Train In Vain". They all sang and danced and ended the concert in a very memorable way. In all it was one of the most fun i'd had at a concert, mainly because i go to a lot of hardcore shows and don't get to see too many alternative/indie bands play. If it hadn't of been for lack of money i was going to go to their next show the day after at The White Rabbit in San, Antonio. Ah well.

here are the flyers for the show:
