Through The Grapevine - Throwback Show at La Villita- San Benito,TX October 3, 2010

Here is my brother and some of my good friends bands set from a couple weeks ago.
Some good friends (MEANSVision) recorded and edited the videos for them. [check out the Young Maths videos from that night as well]
This show was about old friends getting together and having a good time. It initially started because people in our area of the state and our scene got tired of the way bands/people in bands treat each other now a day. We used to go to a local show and be able to see our close friends and make new ones every show, but as we've noticed lately in the scene down here, other than the music itself sounding like every other "core" type band (hardcore/metalcore/etc.) the people are just shit. honestly no other way to put it. bands heckle each other instead of support each other and start fights at shows or stoop to online feuds to show whatever dislike they have towards their fellow musicians. All the bands on the bill have been around for at least 3 years or more (except for a couple last minute changes, which was nice), but as of the last couple hardly ever got any shows together due to various reasons. it was a night for friends and family to get together and not hear any bullshit. a night to just watch, listen, dance, scream, sing and enjoy each others company like the old days. It was amazing, people i hadn't seen in years showed up from other parts of Texas to play and just watch as well. anyway, watch the videos if you'd like...i highly recommend the new song "Time Lapse Before The World Collapse" if you only watch one or two. Through The Grapevine just finished recording a 10 track full length with their friend and old bassist who is a recent graduate of Full Sail University in Orlando. should be out sometime in the next couple months.

Mr. Scruff - Get A Move On (Video)
i had been looking for this funny video for years now.
not constantly, but every time id here that saxophone part id be like man WTF i don't know who the artist is, all i could do was hum the tune and then go crazy not knowing who it was and then forget about it until it bugged me again. so i found the original tune, made in like the 50's, obviously this is just a sample used over and over again and i loved it back when i heard it...i don't even know how long ago. have a listen. hope you like it.
thank you pineapple express for reminding me of this song :)

Cursive - From The Hips
ive known of cursive for a few years now but have never listened to them.
so i downloaded everything i could find.
ive only heard "Happy Hollow" and a couple songs off of "Mama, Im Swollen" and im liking it a lot.
this is one of the songs off of "Mama, Im Swollen.
ive been feeling pretty down lately.
a lot of the time im too busy to notice and just kinda go with things, but when i have that free time i realize a lot of things and this song just makes me "feel" haha.
its one of those feelings where things will get better but before you do its gonna be hell.
the way it starts and then builds into after the singer screams "RIGHT!?" i think its a great song.
i dont know, its just one of those songs that no matter what it says or whether it relates to you or not it just kinda....lifts you up i guess.

does anybody else remember where this cat poster is from?
come on...im sure some of you out there know. haha

Alvino Rey Orchestra on The Lawrence Welk Show: Hindustan (1959)
the only reason i know who Alvino Rey is, is becasue of the Arcade Fire's Neighborhood #2 (Laika) Single. It has a song (not this one) perfomed by the Alvino Rey Orchestra in 1940 as the b-side.
The single is available for download on the blog if you dont have it
